Great, now I’m not just a detective, I’m also starring in my own low-budget thriller. Move over, Agatha Christie, here comes Starla ‘Clueless’ Baker. Just what I needed. The note alone was unsettling, but I couldn’t help the sinking feeling that whoever wrote this was someone true to their word. At the very least, they were intelligent and calculated. They had probably gotten my mother to handle the tarot and the note so there would be no way to trace the crime back to the actual killer, with the added benefit of fooling the police into believing my mother was the serial killer. There went the fingerprint dusting request down the drain. Now I was left with only one question. Should I continue investigating this case and bring justice to the victims’ families? Or should I save my mother?
